Jan Liebermann is the organist of the moment – and not just for the moment. His excellent recital at Our Lady of Victories Church in London was another tour de force.
It followed rapturously received concerts only days earlier in the Berlin Philharmonie and Westminster Abbey.
His programme, on the French-style Skrabl instrument at Kensington, included Wagner's Meistersingers Overture, in which the command of colour and registration was total.
Works by Bach and Dupré – the latter's Three Preludes and Fugues Op 36 – were delivered with customary precision and musical intelligence and the Duruflé Toccata, exploited the reeds on this instrument with epic brilliance.
In short, this was a superb concert by an exceptional young musician, technically secure and with a rare and remarkable gift.
