Organ scholar Jacob Costard

Organ scholar Jacob Costard of Salisbury Cathedral will give the last in the series of Sunday afternoon recitals at St. Michael’s Church, Lyme Regis, on October 13, 2024 at 3.30pm.


Jacob arrived at Salisbury having spent a year as organ scholar at Hereford Cathedral. Before that, he studied at St John's School, Leatherhead and the Junior Department of the Royal Academy of Music.


Next year he takes up the Organ Scholarship at Clare College, Cambridge, where he will read for a degree in divinity. He became a prizewinning Associate of the Royal College of Organists in 2022.


The Lyme Regis organ was built by Anton Škrabl. The instrument has forty-one stops spread across three manuals. Construction began in spring 2009 and the instrument was completed and dedicated in January 2010. More details of the organ may be found here.


The concert was hosted by the South Wessex Organ Society which promotes the appreciation of organ music through education, training, concerts and recitals.
